Story

Our Challenge is to help try and raise £6,000 for the Anthony Nolan Trust

Myself and 6  colleagues have each donated £75 (registration fee) to go through this hell/fun? and would ask that you dig in your pockets for any amount you can spare and help us to reach our total. When you see what we are putting ourselves through you will, hopefully, splash some cash ,for what is a very worthwhile charity and the chance to see our hilarious pictures/video and hears our tales when we get back.  IF YOU WANT TO SEE WHAT IS IN STORE FOR US GO TO WWW.ISLANDCHALLENGE.CO.UK AND YOU WILL SEE THAT WE DESERVE YOUR SPONSORSHIP !

COMMENT FOR THE DAY ............ 25/09 - OH MY GOD WHAT HAVE WE DONE >>>>>>>>>>> less than 26 hours to kick-off !!!!!

We start our journey on Friday 26th Sept travelling down to Poole to meet our other fellow loonies, who have signed up for this event and will spend the evening of the 26th eating and drinking enough to keep us going for the next 5 days having seen the www.islandchallenge.co.uk website !

The following morning we are taken by boat over to the UNHABITATED (apart from the bugs we eat !!) island, probably throwing most of last nights food and drink back to the sea !! and  spend the next 5 days carrying out survival challenges, that include: building a shelter from natural resources, starting a fire (without matches), foraging for food and  learning navigational skills - night and day. If this was not enough we are also promised other 'secret' fun?!?!?! (probably consisting of climbing trees and mud wrestling - not much fun that I can see).

In a nut shell we are doing a form of 'I'm A Celebrity' but without the "Get Me Out Of Here" option and we have had to pay to do it !

I first saw this advert on an internal bulletin at work and jokingly  thought," I fancy that". Bear in mind, those who know me well, that this is the girl who cannot go out of the house without her make-up on and who has NEVER been camping in her life !! Stupidly, mentioned the "joke" to a few colleagues and hey presto we have a team of 6 and signed our life away (not literally I hope).

Great first idea's but now ..............we are looking at a registration pack which holds a very limited list of luxury items that we can take with us that do not include chocolate, toilet roll or alcohol and realising that if we don't want to sleep out in the cold, we need to learn how to build a survival shelter! HELP!!

I can honestly say that Joanne and I are really starting to wonder what we have got ourselves and are glad that one of our latest recruits, Jackie, is in the naval reserves !!! I think the boys should be able to take care of themselves.

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Anthony Nolan Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.
