Story
Haven House Children's Hospice in Woodford, Essex, has been selected as World Snooker's charity partner for the 2011/12 season.
Haven House cares for children and young people between the ages of 0 to 19 who have life-limiting conditions and who are unlikely to reach adulthood. The charity helps families by providing a range of services that include day, short break and end of life care, together with therapeutic play in the community.
To announce the partnership, Barry Hearn, Chairman of World Snooker, visited Haven House. He said: "I am absolutely delighted to be able to support such a wonderful charity that makes a massive difference to the lives of children and their families. We are working with Haven House on a range of exciting initiatives and are aiming to raise a minimum of £120,000 in the next year."
Mike Palfreman, Chief Executive of Haven House, said: "This is an extremely significant relationship for the hospice. Both partners are dedicated to raising as much money as possible for the life-limited children and their families that Haven House cares for. This will make a significant impact to the work that we do and we look forward to working closely with World Snooker over the coming months."
