Story

Don't be deceived by our photo, that smile or grimace, masks a nerve wrecking day of stress in taking Sonny on a ride. I wish I could say we jumped every fence, we didn't, but hopefully after we complete the Wobbleberry Challenge (and yes, I fully intend to!) we will be able to face our fears next year, with success.

Sonny is an ex-racehorse who I found in a dreadful state. Too slow for racing, he was disposed of. Extremely underweight with an untreated eye ulcer which I thought he would actually lose. Thankfully with many, many months of treatment, the eye is almost healthy with just some scarring on the lens and a great deal of food, supplements, love and care to get his body weight and health up to a decent level. He is a real sweetheart and so kind natured, but unfortunately also has many bad habits and behaviour issues from his racing days. Some I hope he will overcome, others will be a lifelong condition which will require special care and management.
With his long term issues and health to build up and overcome, what was I thinking when I entered the Wobbleberry Challenge?! Did I mention I had not even sat on, let alone rode Sonny, when I entered?!

So what was I thinking?!
Well, I'm hoping for the best, expecting the worse, and only time will tell. It has been an interesting 3 weeks, when I finally got to ride Sonny for the first ever time! With only a couple of rides under our hat so to speak, and that also consisted of falling off a couple of times too! I used to be so confident and blasé when I was younger, fear rarely entered my head, but what happened I have no idea?! I guess I got older, I found we really do not bounce! Bumps, bangs, knocks or falls, all hurt more and take longer to recover, as well as suffering debilitating health conditions which affect daily life by making things so much more difficult.    A smile really can hide so much.

Fear is in our head, we know that, but still it gets the better of us, Why? Together all us Wobbleberries will join forces and get ourselves through this tough challenge and overcome many personal fears to really make the Wobbleberries Challenge a great success. Not only to raise funds for an amazing charity, but to show ourselves we can all kick butts, not just cancers butt.
If anyone is interested in sponsoring us, please get in touch, we really do need as much help as possible.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and sorry for the boring waffle. I hope you will support  the Willberry Wonder Pony charity, the Wobbleberry Challenge, Sonny's racehorse to riding horse story and my own battle of fears and foes.  Janine x     #wobbleberrywales
