Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page :-) !
I HAVE FINALLY COMPLETED MY MARATHON SWIM!! 27 hours ... 1416 lengths ... 22 miles ...35.4 km. I actually swam the entire distance of the English Channel!! In 9.5 weeks. (I can hardly believe it!)
I can't pretend it's been 'fun' ... it's been a long, hard, lonely slog - getting up at 05:57, slipping into the 'Earlybirds' (lengths) session, before dawn & ploughing my lonely way up and down. (The 'online' support from fellow swimmers though, has been great!)
I was such a 'wuss' previously - trying to recover from my frozen shoulder, scared to put my nose under the water, terrified when the testosterone-fuelled guys in the next lane did butterfly and almost swamped me!
But I did it!! And I'm even - now - so much more confident in the water (the best escape from the 'Butterfly Guys' is to be underwater BEFORE they flood you :-) !!) I am so very thrilled and would SO welcome YOUR donation, however big or small!
'Aspire' is a wonderful charity, helping people who suffer spinal cord injury to live independent and fulfilled lives. I've tried hard to 'do my bit'!
And for those of you who have already contributed: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU :-) !!
