Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I am trying to raise as much money as possible for a charity close to my family's heart. My brother in law is a Major in the army in Afghanistan and I feel that they are risking their lives on our behalf and I want to help.
On 5th July this year I will be doing Ironman Austria. This involves swimming 3.8km (2.4 miles at the same time as 1,500 other people in a lake) followed by cycling 180km (112 miles) (hopefully most of the 1,500 wil be behind me by then!) and then running a marathon - 42.2 km (26.2 miles).
As you can see this is quite a long way! Assuming my nutrition is sorted, my tyres are pumped up, my legs don't give out too often and I don't get any chaffing in any embarrasing areas it will take me 9 and a half to 10 hours.
Imagine 10 hours at work! That's a long time! Now imagine swimming, cycling and running as hard as you can for that length of time! But it's not just about the race - I will be training up to 25 hours per week in the coming months. As well as working!
Details of the charity can be found on the website below.
