Story
Belle's Angels do the 'Love Run' for BLISS, 12th February 2011. Finsbury Park 10k with Belle's 'Mum's on the Run' in memory of William's 4th Anniversary.
William Henry Baldry was born on 10-February 2007.
Tragically during the last moments of his birth William suffered difficulties that led to him being stillborn. He was revived by medical staff but due to a long period without oxygen, was admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at UCLH.
William was unable to recover and passed away peacefully four days later surrounded by his family. The medical staff did everything in their power to help him pull through and make life as comfortable as possible. We could never thank them enough.
During this time, the family discovered a variety of BLISS guides and information booklets provided free around the ward. These presented valuable answers to a number of challenging topics and questions at this difficult time. We are grateful for this support from BLISS.
BLISS campaigns to improve care for babies born too soon, to small or too sick to cope and to ensure they have the best possible start in life. One in eight babies is born premature or sick - that's 80,000 babies every year. Around 17,000 of these babies need intensive care and the figure is rising.
Why BLISS? Did you know that:
£50 could fund a neonatal nurse on a BLISS study day
£25 could buy a complete set of information booklets
£10 could provide telephone support for two distressed families
So, in recognition of the support that we were given in hospital and since, I have been raising money for BLISS.
