Story
On 6 October 2009 a team of 16 from Wickes, including some colleagues from suppliers, will set off to climb Africa’s highest mountain – Kilimanjaro.
The team: Jeremy Bird, Ian Kennedy, Sally Dunn, Alyssa Rhymes, Nick Hopkinson (Mark II), Catherine Lake, Rob Murray, Julia Henry (MWO), Sheena Ghumra, Tim Matthews, Caroline Beatty (The Clinton Partnership), Simon Holder, Laura Newton, Robin Proctor, Natalie Henty (The Clinton Partnership), Jim Barnard. This amazing challenge is going to be tough as we’re taking the longest, most gruelling route, which involves 8 days on the mountain with a high risk of altitude sickness – not to mention no showers and sharing tents!! We’re all now training in earnest, but many of our group have never climbed a hill, let alone a mountain - so this could be called an act of insanity! However, we’re a determined bunch of committed (highly competitive) individuals who want to take on an extraordinary challenge and raise money for a really worthwhile cause. Wickes has supported Leukaemia Research since October 2006. Colleagues, customers and suppliers have raised over £750,000 to date with their fantastic dedication to fundraising and now it’s our turn! This is a charity where your donations really do save lives, so please sponsor us now!
