We care for people at the end of their life to support them and their loved ones
Story
Once again, Team Wheatsheaf are taking to the roads and footpaths of the Isle of Wight to raise money for the Earl Mountbatten Hospice by taking part in the annual Walk the Wight event - a 26.6 mile walk from one end of the Isle of Wight to the other.
This year we will be walking in memory of our dear friend, Kevin Mitchell, who sadly died at the hospice in February after a long battle with cancer.
Anyone who has been to the hospice will know that the care and dignity afforded to patients and their families and friends is second to none. They need our support even more than ever at the moment. We cannot afford to lose this vital service.
Over the years, Kevin raised thousands of pounds for cancer charities, including the hospice, through his Laughter Through Tears Theatre Company, so we'd like to do him proud by raising as much as we can. We hope you can help.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Earl Mountbatten Hospice gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor us now!
If you weren't lucky enough to know Kevin, you can read more about him here:
Thanks to everyone who has sponsored us so far - it's great to see the donations coming in and the sponsorship form is filling up at The Wheatsheaf - but don't worry, we have more forms!
On the day of the walk you can follow the progress of Team Wheatsheaf by checking out this photoset on Flickr - photos taken along the walk will be posted there throughout the day. In addition, if you make friends with Walk Wight Wheatsheaf on Facebook, or follow @TeamWheatsheaf on Twitter - you can read even more updates and will get direct links to any new images. There will also be links to AudioBoo - little soundbites and hopefully more photos to accompany them.
Just keep your fingers crossed for co-operative technology and good weather!
And please, if you use Facebook or Twitter - pass on the news about the online updates. Even if it only brings in a few more pounds for the hospice, it will be well worth it. __________________________________________________________________
