Story
In 2006 I decided to set myself a challenge of running for marathons for Meningitis Now (back when it was the Meningitis Trust), and caught the run bug.
Being a slacker, next academic year I intend to only run three.
I've wanted to do another marathon for a while, and when my friend and wonderful head of PE at MRC was encouraging our students to challenge themselves to some sort of sporting challenge this year, well, it seemed a perfect opportunity to say "I will run 3 marathons in 2014/15".
It also fits nicely, next academic year will be my third year as a professional teacher, I'll turn 33 years old and this will bring my total number of marathons run to nine - which is three times three.
Of course, it would be remiss to not use the opportunity to help out on of my favourite charities as well, Meningitis Now. Meningitis was in the news recently, as the Meningitis B vaccine is going to be added to the NHS vaccination programme. However, even with this, the effects of meningitis won't go away - meningitis can strike in seconds, but its impact lasts a lifetime, and Meningitis Now is here to help provide support to anyone that has been affected by the disease. Your donation will go a long way in helping people who are coping with the aftermath of meningitis.
I intend to run the Portsmouth coastal marathon in December, Brighton in April and finish with the South Downs marathon in June. However, this may be subject to change - depending on entry etc which I am yet to do.
