Story

Walk4City ( Shrewsbury)

23/11/2006 TO 25/11/2006.

In the first of what we hope to become a biannual event, members of the Chester City Supporters Trust will be walking from the Saunders Honda Stadium (the “Deva”) in Chester to the Gay Meadow in Shrewsbury to support Chester City Football Club when they take on Shrewsbury Town Football Club on the 25th November 2006.

The aim of the event is to raise money for the Chester City Supporters Trust, which in turn will be used to support the Chester City Centre of Excellence and Football in the Community Schemes at Chester City Football Club along with the Trusts nominated charities – Macmillan Cancer Support and B Positive at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

Although the event is being organised by the Supporters Trust, we welcome anyone to join us during any stage of the walk, although we ask that your sponsorship go only to the causes described above.  We would also ask that anyone interested in joining us please contact us beforehand at walk4city@supportchester.co.uk

Even if you are unable to get involved directly, we would ask for your generous support in sponsoring one of those walking from Chester to Shrewsbury.

The walk will begin at 12:00 on Thursday 23rd November from the Saunders Honda Stadium and will progress slowly through Chester City Centre where we hope to start the enroute collection.

Once out of the City, we will walk out of Chester on the A41 toward Witchurch.  For safety reasons, there will be a support vehicle following the walkers during every stage of the walk.

The 1st stage will finish near Broxton (~12 miles), where we will be finding local accommodation for the night. For anyone staying overnight, any accommodation costs (we will be hoping to get free or at least a reduced rate) must be covered by the individual walking, and not from any sponsorship obtained.

The 2nd stage will begin around 09:00 on Friday 24th November, and will continue along the A41 to Prees Heath (~13 miles).  After a break for lunch, the 3rd stage will head down the A49, and finish at Hadnall (~12 miles), where we will again be finding local accommodation for the night.

The final stage will begin around 08:30 on Saturday 25th November, and will continue down the A49, and then onto the A5112 to our destination in Shrewsbury (~7 miles).

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Macmillan Cancer Support will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor us now!

Many thanks for your support.
