Story

Dont forget get the very latest from Team Octavia at Octavia Dad is now walking 630 miles to raise even more money.www.timwoodward.blog.com

Hi - So much has happened since that day we arrived at Wincanton over a month ago as I write this (22nd July). Octavia's dad Tim has done his 600+ mile walk round the cornish coast and raised another big lump of money and the contributions just keep coming in - A BIG thanks you to all who contributed we are really please to have helped in some small way Octavia and all SMA sufferers. Not sure I could contemplate a repeat performance in the near futre but who knows - some mad scheme will no doubt rear its head in time!!!

We still have memories or the GREAT CHALLANGE that range from the fantastic views across the plain, the army helicopter hovering just feet away as we pass the army exercise (and stop their war for just a moment) a fast gallop down the side of a runway on perfect grass going for R&T - the green lanes (and those ruts!!!) the hills climbed and valleys penetrated - all have a special place in our minds.

You know we ALL go through life with pre-conceived ideas of disability or illness and never really have to face those life changing moments that a sufferer (or close relative of one) of a debilitating condition has to and I am truly humbled by being in the presence of some of these people who achieve so much and do it without the whinging and huffs/puffs we all tend to do when things become tough for a moment. I was proud to have played a small part in this project and whilst life has fully engulfed me and my team again it will take a long while for the memories and experience to become any less than they were as we faced those hills and challenges.

The ecleptic mix of feelings and emotions we have been through left us with the slightly warm glow of acheivment and we are very please to see that Tema Octavia has raised well over £100,000 so far which is a testament to everyone who has made a contribution in donations or time - A HUGE THANK YOU!

Do keep watching as the Mad Challange goes on for the £2M target and dont forget that all contributuions made online are giftaided so increasing the totals made - we will leave this site open for the next few weeks so everyone can see what we have managed and contribute to the many other events that are happening.

Thanks again everyone - keep looking and PAY UP!

If you don't want to donate via the web then you can send us a cheque made payable to "The SMA Trust" to VikiTheVet - Barings Field Farm, Newdigate, Surrey RH5 5BH - we will acknowledge your donation on this site and make sure the money goes through to the trust.

Donating through JustGiving though is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now. You can see a little of what we do at one of our clinics by going to www.newdigatevets.co.uk
