Story
My name is Alex Carter and I am a final year student studying International Business at Loughborough University.
My Challenge:
Swimming the equivalent distance of the English Channel in Loughborough Olympic Swimming Pool - 21 miles over 2 days
Cycling from John O Groats to Lands End, a distance of 980 miles in 11 days
Running an ultra marathon (30+miles) every day for 2 weeks, starting at Lands End and ending at Loughborough - 421 miles over 12 days
My Inspiriation
In 2008 I took a gap year, with a portion of my travels taking me to Ghana to coach basketball. It was here that I contracted Malaria and almost died. In fact the child next to me, whilst I was unconscious, did in fact die; not because it was too late to save his life but because his family couldn't afford the treatment.
I want to ensure that this NEVER happens again and thus I am undertaking this massive challenge to raise as much money as I can.
Malaria No More UK
This charity aims to eradicate malaria deaths in key hot spot areas such as Ghana by 2015. They work with volunteers on the ground in countries abroad as well as a host of celebrity advocates such as David Beckham and Andy Murray in addition to fund raisers such as myself to raise money and awareness. Your money goes direct to saving lives, not only to children in Africa but also on awareness campaigns here in the UK to help provide travelers with the best most up to date and safe information and preventative treatment available.
Please help me and donate whatever you can to this worthwhile cause.
Thank you.
