Story
On Saturday 2nd July 2011, I will be doing a one mile swim in the River Thames to raise money for the Karai Welfare Society . The Karai Welfare Society is a charity that works tirelessly to improve the lives of disadvantaged people living in Sri Lanka, who have faced the hardships of war, poverty and a tsunami. It provides essential aid such as fresh water, food, medicine as well as education.
All funds raised will go towards providing medical aid such as vital equipment, operations and staff. The key areas in need of support include:
• a much needed maternity ward upgrade which could mean the difference between life and death for many newborns and their mothers;
• provision of cataract operations, eye examinations and glasses. Cataract operations are a simple procedure routinely carried out in the U.K, but many elderly people in Sri Lanka spend their lives with very poor or no vision because they do not have access to this medical care.
Please help me support the Karai Welfare Society to make these hopes a reality. Your donation will make a real difference and be gratefully appreciated by so many.
Donating on this site is easy, fast, completely secure and if you're a U.K taxpayer, an extra 28% can be added to your donation at no cost to you. All the money you donate will go direct to the charity.
THANK YOU!
