Hi, My name is SSgt Dave Ross. I am currently serving with the Royal Military Police. I have completed several operational tours in the last 10 years and regrettably have lost friends and seen other seriously injured. A very good friend of mine, Maj Phil Packer RMP, sustained a life changing injury in Iraq. Since recovering, he has spent the vast majority of his time trying to raise money for injured soldiers through Help for Heroes. It is his intention to raise 1,000,000. One night, a long time ago, it came to me in an epiphany, I could raise money as well as enjoying myself!! (It seemed like a good idea at the time!) And so, the 24 hr Golfathon was born. It will be held at Upavon Golf Club, Wilts, thanks to the professional there Sir Richard Blake. I will tee off at 1600 hrs on the 05 May 09 and hopefully finish at 1600 hrs on the 06 May 09. I will be playing Wee Stuart for the full 24 hr period however there are 2 spaces every 9 holes for a small donation of 20 pounds.
