Story
This year is 10 years since cycling 1,000 miles from Barcelona to Liverpool in 10 days, in the process raising £10,000 for charity. In light of this anniversary, Ollie and I have booked Saturday 13th July, 2019 as the start of our 7 day, LEJOG (1,000 miles).
We will be setting off from Lands’ End point early on the 13th July will arrive at John O’Groats on Friday 19th July. We are cycling up to 150 miles a day. The ride will be unassisted and take place on road touring bikes. It’s an immense challenge and will require extreme levels of mental and physical resilience in order to complete.
Building your own resilience, positive mind-set and being able to overcome the challenges life undoubtedly delivers you is extremely important as an adult.
I have spent my entire working life since the age of 16 (now 38) working with, coaching and supporting young people. The businesses I have set up with the help and support of the Prince’s Trust charity work to help enable young people to enjoy participating in sport, and through our various projects ensure that they are empowered and understand the benefits an active and healthy life can have on their mental health.
We are raising awareness for Young Minds, a charity focused on helping young people understand, get support and learn more about dealing with mental health.
It is truly amazing that more adults are now finding the strength and the opportunities within themselves to ‘just have a chat’ about their feelings…
Imagine though what could be achieved if we help support and build strong, resilient children, enabling them to believe and follow their dreams.
