On 8th April 2009 I successfully reached the geographic North Pole on skis in an attempt to raise £50,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Since losing my Dad in June 2007 I'd wanted to do something extraordinary to raise a massive amount for Macmillan because of the amazing support they gave to my Dad throughout his illness. From diagnosis and treatment through to ensuring he could make his final journey peacefully, with dignity, at home, surrounded by his family, Macmillan were there every step of the way.
I want to make sure their fantastic work continues so other people can feel the benefit of their compassion when it's needed most in their lives. Cancer now affects one in three people in the UK, so we all at sometime will be affected by it either directly or indirectly through family members, friends or loved ones.
Anything you give goes directly to Macmillan and not to refund the expedition costs meaning every penny raised will go towards improving the lives of cancer patients and their families.
For more info on the expedition and post expedition fundraising activity please read my blog. I'm also running a series of inspirational talks about the expedition so please contact me for more information.
If you think your company or employer may be interested in hearing me talk about the expedition, please contact me on +44 (0) 191 234 3000 or email me.
Every penny you donate through this site will go directly to Macmillan Cancer Support. Justgiving is the easiest, fastest and most secure way for you to donate. Please remember if you are a UK resident to claim the tax paid on your donation.
Please give all you can. Thanks for your support.
Michael
