Story

Trans Pennine Trail - 1 July 2011 to 3 July 2011

Hornsea to Southport (210 miles approx)

Last summer, Mr Phil Davenport discovered the delights of cycling along the Trans Pennine Trail and promptly declared a desire to traverse its entire length.

A trip into the Broadbottom hills did not put him off, nor did a 100km loop starting in Wythenshawe. I tried my best.

And when he continued to mention it this year, I figured he might be serious. So here we are. In total, there are six of us, with the following four disciples doing it for The Christie:

Paul "spaceman" Allen, Phil "Davvo" Davenport, Chris "Doylie" Doyle and Gary "Gaz" Mercer

The two others (who have their own charities) are:

Andrew "Argy Bargy" Bargery and Tom "I Did Lands End to John O'Groats Or Possibly The Other Way Round I'm Not Sure" Davies

To recap, we will be cycling approximately 210 miles (more if we get lost) from East to West over three days, starting in Hornsea, and finishing in Southport.

I don't collect charity for many events, but I feel that this is substantial enough (i.e. I have genuine doubts about making it across) to warrant setting up this page and asking for donations. And of course The Christie is an extremely worthwhile and local cause.

So please give generously.  Thanks to those who have donated so far.  I don't own a tricycle, Richard, so I can't (unfortunately) go for the higher amount.
