Only 2 weeks to go and 2% more to raise!
Hi
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. Here John Green and Jonny Woolsey will be raising money by cycling 1000 miles from John O’Groats to Lands End in memory of John Green’s sister ‘Debbie Green’.
As some of you may or may not know John’s sister Debbie passed away 5 years ago now at the age of 22. Debbie passed away on a totally normal day at work due to a blood clot in the brain; by the time she had got to the hospital it was too late. She was rushed to the hospital at Halifax and then transferred to the Neurosurgery Intensive Care unit at Leeds hospital where they put her on a life support machine while they tried their hardest to revive her. Unfortunately, after many hours and to everybody’s despair there was nothing they could do about it, it was too late.
So In memory of Debbie Green: John and Jonny have decided to attempt the epic cycle trip from John O'Groats (the most North-Easterly point of Scotland) to Land's End (the most South-westerly point of England). It's a 1000 mile bike ride the full length of the UK, TOP 2 BOTTOM.
Although Jonny never met Debbie he is doing this with John to hopefully raise some money for Neurosurgical Research as he believes it’s a good cause. So we know we won't be earning millions, we’re hoping that the money we do raise will help make a difference to the Neurosurgical Research Department, so that one day they may have the knowledge and equipment to help recover people arriving in a condition similar to Debbie’s.
So whether you knew Debbie, or just want to support the cause, please give as little, or as much as you can afford. 10p to £10 the choice is yours.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. All your details are safe, they don’t send you unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
Dig deep and get donating.
More info on the trip if your interested:
We will be cycling an average of 110 miles a day for 9 days through 3 countries (Scotland, England & Wales). It's not overly ambitious for young guys, but at the same time i’m not sure our bodies are the temples they used to be ;). To add to that our training has not exactly been up to spec. We’ve done a few 30 milers and an 85 and I’m writing this a week before we set off! However with Debbie in Johns mind and the pure hard working ethics of Jonny I’m sure we will achieve our Goal and complete the trip in good time!
