Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Crohn's disease is a debilitating and agressive bowel disease, for 15 years. Vast majority of Crohn's disease sufferers need to take strong drugs to control their symtoms and 80% will eventually require a surgery at some stage in their lifes. This disease affects around 5 million people worldwide.
The current mainstream gastroenterology consensus is that Crohn's disease is a form of an auto-immune disease which cannot be cured but only provided with a symptomatic relief. However, over the past of last couple of decades a compelling evendince has been accumulated which suggest that the Crohn's disease is caused by an infectious agent MAP (very stubborn slow growing bacteria similar to a tuberculosis bacteria) and therefore can be cured.
Professor John Hermon-Taylor of King's College London has invented a modern therapeutic vaccine against MAP which he believes holds the best hope of a cure for Crohn’s that there has ever been. It is designed to stimulate the body’s own immune system to selectively eliminate MAP-infected cells. Animal studies in mice and in cattle have shown it to be highly effective against MAP with no obvious adverse effects. The Vaccine has been fully developed and is awaiting manufacture and a trial in humans (to be funded through investment/the commercial sector).
We are working to raise funds to enable the Crohn's MAP Vaccine
developed by Prof. John Hermon-Taylor to commence human trails.
