Story

So, I've been talking about running a marathon for a while now, and figured I may as well get round to actually doing it. Apologies in advance for the inevitable diet cokes at the pub, the salads at the restaurant (er, Wetherspoons) and the likely incessant social media campaign as I attempt to raise £1,000.

I'm running the Brighton Marathon on Sunday April 15th 2012 both for myself but, more importantly, also in memory of my uncle Tony who sadly passed away from Cancer in June earlier this year. He was taken away from us far too young and his upbeat, jolly and contented spirit is sorely missed. Macmillan made his last few weeks as comfortable as they could have possibly been and frankly do wonderful work which is more than worthy of some spare change.

I should note that I'm running the marathon independent of Macmillan, which means that the fundraising is eligible for Giftaid, so please do tick that box.

Thank you in advance for any sponsorship you can offer, I've never done anything like this before and if you can help me raise a grand in memory of Tony and to help make the lives of others who are unfortunate enough to be suffering from this abhorrent disease then I will be eternally grateful.

As part of the training and this fundraising, I ran the Men's Health Survival Challenge in November, a frankly ridiculous event which while enjoyable was just, well. Painful. So if you think that a 10k obstacle course in November involving, er, hose pipes and mud plus 26.2 miles is worth a few coppers then please do donate.

Thanks,
Tom
