Story

Did it!!! It was a wet and blustery day in Snowdonia but I ran the course in 4hrs48mins which i'm really please with. Managed to run all the course apart from walking at the drink stations and I walked up the big hill at 22 miles.  Had to hobble down as my legs seized up a bit. I enjoyed walking around like a turkey in foil after the race - photos to follow. Other than some stiffness and blistering I'm now fine and looking forward to a few days holiday with Pauline in Italy.  The 'medal' was a coaster made of local Welsh slate. From now on i'll be using it to help me relax with a cup of tea... until the next challenge.  Thanks to everyone who has sponsored me. Your support has been overwhelming.

Hi there

On Saturday 27th October I'll be attempting to run the Snowdonia Marathon along with a couple of my colleagues from the British Mountaineering Council.  Running a mountain marathon was the obvious choice for us!

The run takes place on the roads around Snowdonia to alleviate pressure on footpaths. We won't run up Snowdon itself (3560ft) but we will ascend over 3000ft during the race - nearly 7 times the height of the London Eye!  Oh and it's 26.2 miles long too!!

I'm raising money for two charities: the Multiple Sclerosis Society and Christie's cancer care hospital in Manchester. I would really appreciate it if you would sponsor me please and help these great causes.

My fantastic friend Pauline has MS. I'm running for her and for other fabulously brave people like her. There's a lot of misconception about MS and still so much the experts don't know about its causes, treatment and how to stop it progressing.  Any money you donate will help improve understanding of this debilitating condition.

I am also raising money for the Christie hospital in Manchester, where I have recently started volunteering. Christie's is one of Europe's leading cancer care hospitals.  I'm running in memory of my Mum, Dad, Auntie Anne, Dike and for everyone affected by cancer - that's 1 in 3 of us in our lifetimes.  If I can get around these 26.2 miles then there's hope for everyone.

I have set up two sponsorship pages - one for each charity. This page is for donations to the MS Society.  Please click on the following link to donate to the Christie hospital www.justgiving.com/tinagardnerchristie  If you'd like to donate to both charities that's great and it only takes a minute or two to donate on each page.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.  Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Christie's will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many many thanks for your support.

Tina xx
