Railway Children has a vision of a world in which no child is lost to the streets. Across the UK, India and Tanzania, our networks provide an opportunity for us to reach children who are alone and vulnerable before they come to serious harm. Together, we’re determined we’ll leave no child behind.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In October 2010 I will be undertaking the biggest challenge of my life.

Eight days on a mountain versus a lifetime on the streets.

At 5,895m, Mt. Kilimanjaro is one of the largest volcanoes ever to break through the Earth's crust.

My challenge is to reach its summit & raise as much money as possible for the Railway Children charity

I will be paying my own costs of the trip around £2500, this ensures that as much as possible of your donation goes direct to the charity, so its not cheap and cetainly not a holiday.  I have also committed to try and raise £5000 for the charity.

So who are Railway Children and what makes their work so important.

There are so many charities doing wonderful things on behalf of street children all over the world.

The Railway Children charity works with children living on the streets but unlike other organisations, Their approach is different.

It’s all about EARLY INTERVENTION.

They provide the shelter, food, clothing, education and healthcare that are all essential to a child's wellbeing. That’s an incredibly important part of our work but it's not the thing that makes them unique. Their goal is to intervene with a child at the earliest opportunity before an abuser does.

They aim to stop a runaway child becoming a street child.

It's about getting to street kids before the streets get to them.

So with your help im sure we can do it
