Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Gee Fai Wu and I am running in the BUPA Great North Run on 16th September 2012 to help raise funds towards Finding Frasers Feet.
Fraser is a 5 year old boy from Harrogate who has Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy. This is a condition that affects muscle control and movement which for him means the tight muscle tone in his legs causes him problems with walking. His family are trying to raise £60,000 to take him to America in March 2013 for life changing surgery that will give him a better quality of life.
Fraser has undergone many physio therapies in the UK such as using a walking frame, hydrotherapy and horse riding sessions. He has had 2 rounds of Botox and an oral medication called Baclofen which are muscle relaxants. He also wears leg splints every day. However whilst some of these therapies work they are only temporary.
The operation is called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy and is carried out at St Louis Childrens Hospital in Missouri USA . It is a neurosurgical technique used to treat spasticity (increased muscle tone)aiming to reduce spasticity, improve function and improve walking.
We are all supported by Radio Aire and Magic 828's charity Cash For Kids but be rest assured any money raised here is all going directly to Fraser.
