GVI Thailand provides opportunities for local community members to gain valuable English skills which they can use for their own personal and community development.  In Krabi, English skills open up doors for people in the local tourist and business industries as well as numerous other educational and professional opportunities.  As Thais are lacking in their English skills they rely on foreigners to come in as teachers in schools.  By providing Thai teachers with assistance, training and professional development they can provide quality language classes for students on their own, breaking the cycle of reliance on outsiders for knowledge.

 Without this project rural schools throughout Ao Luk would be without teachers to provide them with quality English language training.  By donating just a small amount you can help support professional development for local teachers working in rural.

Activities

Local Thai teachers will gain training to improve their English skills and gain professional development by learning innovative new techniques and activities to use in the classroom.  GVI Thailand will provide them with a number of professional development opportunities such as providing native speaking teaching assistants, offering English classes outside of school hours and holding specialized workshops and teacher trainings throughout the year.

Long Term Sustainability

By providing schools with continuous quality English teachers, students will be provided with skills to improve their future educational, economic and career opportunities.  Local teachers will also be exposed to the English language and inventive teaching methods providing them with a means of professional development to improve their skills as a teacher.  With time, local teachers will be able to continue providing a high quality of English for students, who will be able to carry on their skills to future generations, eventually cutting out the need for outside assistance.
