Story
At the end of last year my Grandad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer which was a massive shock to all my family. Roger (my Grandad) has always been a very keen bowler, even playing for the city of Dundee many times. After going through a major operation and chemotherapy our family were hoping to see him back to his normal self and doing us proud in the bowling season. However life isn’t full of great stories and unfortunately we have now been told that my Grandad’s cancer has spread to other vital organs which now means we treasure every moment we have with him!
Like any 20 year old, looking forward to your 21st party is an exciting occasion. However with this news this year and other personal family battles it has put a dampener on my occasion.
I’ve decided for my 21st party, which will be held on the 14thSeptember 2013, that I would prefer if all my guests donated to this charity rather than spending any money on me.
I have also decided to run a silent auction on the night where I will auction off many valuable items for this amazing cause.
I will also be auctioning off items in the weeks and months coming up to my birthday to hopefully reach my target and maybe one day we can find a cure for this horrible illness!
You will also see that I've chosen a Tangerine theme for this special page. This is another colour close to my grandads heart as he showed me the Dundee United ways for many years!
Sadly my Grandad lost the battle with this horrible illness in the early hours of Sunday 12th May. My little fighter has fought long enough and will now be able to rest in peace, pain free (hopefully with a John Smiths in hand!)
I will always remember the day before he was cruelly taken from us, whispering in his ear and proudly telling him I’d passed my £500 target. Now I have more than exceeded that and I can’t wait to hand over this cheque and do my family and especially my shining star proud!
Thank you for taking the time to read this!!
