Story
Thank you for visiting my Just Giving page.
On Sunday 10th August, I will be taking part in Ride London 2014, a 100 mile cycle following the 2012 Olympic route alongside 20,000 other competitors.
I am fundraising for a charity called Teddy's Wish, founded by myself and my wife Jen in memory of our darling baby boy, Edward Louis Reid.
Edward was born on 18 January 2014. Our first baby, he was the brightest light to ever shine in our lives. Tragically 3 months later on 16 April 2014 he left us, a victim of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). SIDS is a diagnosis by exclusion and on every medical test possible Edward was perfectly healthy. This lack of explanation and understanding makes this most devastating loss even harder to bear. Our beautiful son is no longer with us and that light has been extinguished.
Our desperate need to understand will never be quenched. We founded Teddy’s Wish to raise funding to support research into SIDS, and also neonatal death and stillbirth, so we can learn more and in time try to substantially reduce infant loss. We will also provide funding for counselling support, as we believe that all bereaved families should be able to receive this support whatever their circumstances.
Ride London 2014 is the first of many steps for Teddy’s Wish as we search for answers and do something meaningful in our son Edward's name.
We thank you for your support
Jen and Chris
