Story
I am currently fundraising for Tai Woffinden’s #TeamTai £100k again for 2015 and like last year the money raised will go to Great Ormond Street to fund a en-suite bedroom that is due to be completed in 2017 (a second that will be funded by #TeamTai). The en-suite bedroom will allow the child and parents/family to close the door behind them, have private family time and create memories whilst receiving vital treatment that the hospital provides for over 200,000 children that are admitted each year with the rarest and most complex diseases.
The reason I am so passionate about fundraising for Great Ormond Street Hospital is because I was a patient from birth. This is something that I doubt many of you know seens as I never talk about it, but I was diagnosed with a rare condition that an average of one in one million people have. Therefore statistically speaking, only 64 living within the United Kingdom would have the condition and if it wasn’t for the hospital, I still may not have the answer! The fact that I can help my idol/hero is one massive added bonus! 😉
My target has been set at £1,000 for 2015 which is what I reached last year! Although this sounds like a little amount with it being just 1% of the £100k target set by Tai, however think about what this money would do for the hospital.
No matter how big or small your donation is, every penny helps push the hospital closer to upgrading their facilities for patients to come. Just think about what £1 would get you: a chocolate bar to something such as £10: a bottle of wine or a bunch of flowers. How much do you really need these, or could you skip them just once to help seriously ill children live?
Face it, you never know what life might throw at you. You may need to use Great Ormond Street Hospital for your children or grandchildren later on and you will regret not donating to have the improved facilities. ❤️
