In January 2015 we will be embarking on a journey up the West coast of India in a small motorised rickshaw.
The challenge will be to cover roughly 3000km within two-weeks in a glorified lawnmower with a top speed of 30mph. The event – known as the Rickshaw Run – consists of around 80 teams travelling the length of India. There is no support, no mechanics, no route, and no rules! We will be covering 100% of the trip costs ourselves. All donations will go directly to the two charities we would like to support:
1. Fight Hunger Foundation: www.fighthungerfoundation.org
As this event is in India we wanted to choose a charity based there that would really make a difference. 20% of Indian children below 5 years of age suffer from acute malnutrition (8 million each year). This is the worst form of malnutrition and is life threatening. 50% of child deaths below the age of 5 are attributed to under-nutrition (1 million each year). The team on the ground working for Fight Hunger Foundation are totally dedicated to the fight against malnutrition in India, and more specifically to the prevention, detection and treatment of acute under-nutrition of children below the age of five. This is done by integrating programmes locally & nationally, promoting a community based approach and supporting scientific research. We have partnered with their sister organisation ‘Action against Hunger UK’ who will funnel all donations made to ‘The Fight Hunger Foundation’ so they can continue their great work. We have a target of £500 but would love to reach far and beyond this!
2. Cool Earth: www.coolearth.org
This is the official charity of The Adventurists- The crazy kids who are the organisers behind the Rickshaw Run. This is a charity dedicated to restoring and maintaining forested land in urban areas around the world. It's a really effective charity and an excellent way of enriching people’s lives and teaching communities about the importance of conservation. We have committed to raising £500 for CoolEarth.
Since their beginnings, The Adventurists have helped raise over £5 Million GBP for a ton of super-worthy causes, so please take the time to donate as every cent helps!

Our Team is made up of three adventurous ladies:
Rachel – Originating from Devon (UK), I am a Dietitian with a passion for reducing the impact of malnutrition worldwide so super keen to raise money for Fight Hunger Foundation after hearing about the nutrition challenges faced across India. However I am scared of driving and busy roads…and I have signed up to risk my life driving a rickshaw across India, notorious for some of the most dangerous roads in the world…this combined with the inevitable ‘delhi-belly’, I will literally be s***ing myself so could be interesting…at least I won't have to drive very fast haha!!
Georgia – I'm a British/New Zealand citizen currently working (sometimes hard) and saving madly to continue my life goal of travelling to every country in the world. I'm a seasoned Rickshaw runner after completing the April 2013 Run, and as i've fallen madly in love with India I am returning full of excitiment and rearing to raise heaps of cash for an amazing cause! other than travelling I run a lot, make a wicked awesome vegan cheesecake and love pandas.
Maezee – Yo, I am from New Zealand, working as: a delivery girl, nanny and fudge seller. This is my first time as a Rickshaw Runner and also to India! I am super freaking excited! To prepare for this challenge I have been eating only curry, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. As well as pushing my small hatchback car around as I believe this might come in handy at some stage of the run! I enjoy long walks on the beach and my favorite colour is green. I am eager to see what this adventure has in store for me and the girls!
