Mike's childhood mate Ian has had this illness for over 7 years and in this time has been unable to work and do the type of things that most people take for granted. Throughout this time he's always amazed me with his positivity about getting better and now there is a very real chance this could happen thanks to the opportunity to bring the trial to the UK.

Rituximab trials have already happened in other countries (notably Norway) and two thirds of patients have seen moderately to major improvement. This is a major breakthrough and could be enough to help those affected into leading normal lives, getting back to work and more. It's important to replicate these results and is a pre-requisite to the full clinical trial in the UK, this is why this initial trial in the UK is so important.
We all know people who have suffered from this illness and it's mind-boggling how so many other diseases are now treatable but so little appears to be known about ME.
Anyway it was a logistical nightmare of a trip which split across 6 days seeing see us tackle the South West, London, East Anglia/E.Mids, West Mids and North West and finishing up in the North East.
We broke down at Colchester, had matchday programme features from over 50 clubs, 30 newspapers covered us and we were in 10 regions of ITV regional news as well as Radio 5Live!
There were pitchside photos at Plymouth, Exeter, Yeovil, Cardiff, Swansea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Burton Albion, Man Utd, York City and Middlesbrough! With signed items donated, website features and more.
We also met with ME sufferers and charity supporters at many of the grounds which was fantastic and really kept us going.
Anything you can donate is massively appreciated, times are tight and we're not looking to pressure people. Whatever you can spare will help Invest In ME bring the trial to the UK and could change thousands of people's lives, including our good friend Ian's.
