Thanks for visiting our team fundraising page.
On 13th May four very amateur, and slightly vintage, cyclists will leave St Andrews in Scotland to cycle the 500 miles to St Andrew’s Club in Westminster in 5 days. Not the greatest challenge that has ever been undertaken but certainly the greatest that any of the team have tried to date. We are told that cycling 100 miles is the equivalent of running a marathon, which is definitely making us nervous.
The team’s raise £43,800 for St Andrew’s Club, the World’s oldest youth Club. Based in Westminster St Andrew's provides a huge range of activities for over 700 members. In order to offer our members an exciting and diverse programme and keep the Clubhouse running we have to raise almost £500,000 a year. Part of our funding has come from Westminster City Council, but we have become a victim of their cuts and have been informed that we are not due to receive our grant in the present year. Last year we received £43,800 and it is this vital income that we hope to replace.
St. Andrew’s Club was founded in 1866 and draws its membership from all over London, but mainly Westminster and Vauxhall. Attendance is not compulsory, but every year over 700 young people sign up to join in with our activities.
We are most indebted to all those who have kindly agreed to house the team on their way South, so ensuring that all the money raised from sponsorship will go to the Club.
