The Dominion Theatre and We Will Rock You Charity Skydive!
We Will, We Will, Skydive!!
***Sunday 14th August***
On Sunday 14th August, we finally acheived our goal of skydiving in aid of The Mercury Phoenix Trust.
It was the scariest yet most exhilarating thing any of us have ever done before. For two members of the team, this was even their first ever experience in an aeroplane. To then jump out of it was a huge a acheivement for them.
As most of you are aware, this was our second attempt due to the weather spoiling the first one. We would just like to thank you for your patience and continual interest and support since that time. It has been fantastic and extremely encouraging for us all.
We at The Dominion Theatre and The Mercury Phoenix Trust would just like to say a massive thank you to you all.
We DID, We DID, Skydive!!
About The Mercury Pheonix Trust
Freddie Mercury died of AIDS related causes in London on 24th November 1991. Immediately the remaining members of Queen and Jim Beach their manager took the decision to raise money and awareness about AIDS in his memory. Together they organised the 1992 Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert for AIDS Awareness. The Mercury Phoenix Trust was founded to distribute the monies raised from this concert.
Since 1992 the Mercury Phoenix Trust has collaborated with groups as far removed as the World Health Organisation to grass-root organisations run partly by voluntary workers in Africa and India, concentrating on HIV/AIDS education and awareness in the developing world.
