Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I felt inspired and moved by the work that ERASE and Footprints have been doing to support orphanages in Africa and wanted to do something to help. I have a passion for yoga, so I thought a Yogathon would be a great and fun way of raising money for these charities. Please carry on reading to find out more about the orphanages and the day.
About the Orphanages
Gambia
Fulakunda Orphanage is home to 45 boys. All of these children are alone, either because their parents have died or because they were abandoned. ERASE Foundation provides them with bedding, toys and monthly supplies of rice. Last year each child was given a care plan to ensure that they had the nutrition and medical care to help them to thrive and live healthy and happy lives.
So far, ERASE has put a roof on the orphanage and now they are building an annex, which will include 2 classrooms and 5 large rooms. The next stage of the building project is to build a wash room and toilets.
South Africa
Little Angels Children’s Home is an orphanage run by a 27 year old woman since the death of the founder, her mother, in 2006. There is very scarce social service in the community to assist orphans. Children are often forced to drop out of school to look after themselves and their siblings in child headed households. These children are either HIV/AIDS orphans or have been abandoned by their parents/relatives. Little Angels offers these children shelter and food, and helps them access medication, counselling and other therapeutic services to help them to live healthy and meaningful lives.

Getting Sponsored
Fancy more of a challenge? Why not get your friends, family or work colleagues to sponsor you? For people to sponsor you on the Just Giving website - you will need to have an active fundraising page to join the team, so if you don’t have one you’ll need to set that up first. Your page can then be listed on Yogathon team page and whatever you raise on your page will contribute towards the team’s target.
Once you've created your fundraising page, go to the team’s landing page, and click link to 'Join the team'. You'll be asked to confirm that you'd like to add your page to the team.
For more information on joining a team, you can visit the Just Giving help area: http://just.ly/Join-Team
If you're having problems joining the team, please let the Just Giving team know the email address you used to create your fundraising page, as well as the link to the team page and they can join your page up for you.
If you wish to do it the traditional way, the sponsorship form can be downloaded by visiting: www.erasefoundation.org.uk to support the Fulakunda orphanage in Gambia or www.thefootprintsfoundation.co.uk for Little Angels in South Africa.
