I made a promise to myself last year whilst I was having Chemo therapy at the Royal Marsden.
I watched the Marsden march from the hospital window and promised myself then that I would do the march the following year if I was physically able………… and here I am, so here we go!
Here Mary Dicks wife adds a few words, please read.
Dick worked at Roehampton University from 2006-2011 in the Property and Estates Department. He was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in April 2007 and passed away in August 2011. During these four years he was a patient at The Marsden Hospital. All the staff that we came across were dedicated and professional but above all they really cared about him as an individual. The treatment that Dick received was incredible and he always said that he could not have been looked after better anywhere in the world.
In March 2011, the children and I took part in the Marsden Walk. Dick had wanted to join us, however he unfortunately was not well enough to do so, but he did meet us at the finish line. It was an incredible day – walking not only as a family but also with other families and friends who had one aim in mind – to raise money for such a wonderful HOSPITAL.
I know that you will enjoy the day and I was humbled to have been part of it two years ago.
