Sadly, our world has been rocked twice this year in a way that is totally incomprehensible to us.
We lost one of our dear pupils in January 2018 to cancer. Katie was a brilliant young lady with so much to give. She had a smile to die for and had such an infectious personality that you could help but to love her. Katie’s memory is one that will never be forgotten and will remain close to our hearts for a long time to come. Many charities supported Katie and her family during from her initial diagnosis, through treatment and eventually to the end.In March this year we also got the news that one of our colleagues and very close friends had been diagnosed with breast cancer, she is currently undergoing treatment for this and is being so strong. We are all inspired by her each and every day and know that she is going to fight and come out of this stronger than ever before.
Cancer can affect anyone and does not care who, it can destroy families and turn their lives upside down. Macmillan believe that life with cancer is still life and they will help patients and their families live it. From the moment that people are diagnosed, through their treatment and beyond, Macmillan are a constant source of support, giving patients the energy and inspiration to take back control and feel more like themselves again.
