Kernan Valley Flying Club intend to embark on a sponsored flight around Ireland in aid of the Brain Tumour Charity, Marie Curie and the Irish Cancer Society. Latest figures reveal that 1 in 2 of the population in UK and Ireland will have this devastating disease, so now is the time to dig deep into our hearts and pockets in order that vital research may continue and we can beat this disease giving hope to future generations.
This Flight of Hope will take place, weather permitting, from our airfield at Tandragee on the Easter weekend 3rd to the 6th April and will consist of 7 aircraft and crew with hopefully lots of other aircraft taking part as we fly around Ireland.
Our journey of almost 1000 miles will start at Newcastle Co Down and then follow the coast clockwise round Ireland.We'll will stop at as many airfields along the way as possible to accept donations and raise awareness of the increase in cancer in UK and Ireland. So if you see an aircraft overhead think DONATE!

Hi everyone, still recovering from our fantastic flight around Ireland. What an experience for us to see the beautiful coast of Ireland in all its splendour, be blessed with such fantastic weather and at the same time raise over £14,000 and counting for our chosen charities!
It was a fantastic achievement from all involved, from the Kernan Valley Flying Club members, to all the clubs we visited during our flight who took the time to greet us and kept us supplied with food, fuel and accommodation. Christine, Betty, myself and all the club members involved were blown away with the generosity and kindness of all the people we met along the way.
To all of you who have donated on our Justgiving page and all those who have donated in any shape or form, can we say a heartfelt thank you for your generosity and good wishes. As you know this is a cause very close to our hearts and we appreciate every penny which will go into cancer research.
A special thanks to the fourteen members of the club who took part and supported us in our venture, including the ground crew. I know that we and they had a fabulous experience and enjoyed it immensely. Thanks also to all the aircraft and crew who joined us along the way to support us and fly part of the journey. There will be lots more photos and videos when we get them organised.
