Story

Team Road Nitrate is made up of four colleagues from Halliburton, Jeff Stewart, Chris Batty, Adam Reid and Ryan Gribble, and each has a story to tell. All have a personal reasons for running, as well as the obvious, to raise as much money and awareness for Inspire. Here are their stories

Jeff's reason for running is simple, this year he turns 40 and he wants to get himself into shape. He has been carrying too much weight and has found it hard to motivate himself to shift this weight. The 10k run will give him focus. As Jeff says "Turning 40 is a big milestone, and you start to think more of your health. I have found it hard to motivate myself in the past to lose weight but this run will give me focus. I will get myself fit, lose weight and raise money for a great cause, so its a win win situation"

Chris is Aberdeen's only professional Mixed Martial Arts fighter. Last year he retired from the ring, mainly due to lack of motivation. But this year he plans to fight again. As Chris says "For last years fight I failed to make weight, having to give back some of my purse, and my cardio was lacking, this year I don't want a repeat of this. Running in the 10k means my fitness levels will be high, and I need no greater motivation than to know those I am running for face greater challenges every day"

Adam says "The word Inspire is appropriate for this great charity and relevant to my own reason for running. For something to inspire you it is usually full of greatness and amazement, this charity takes the lead in caring for those with learning difficulties, and the work that they do is exactly that, both great and amazing. Someone who has always inspired me is my dad, Doug. He has competed in marathons and various 10k's over the years and it is about time I paid tribute to how great and amazing my inspiration is.

Inspire! Find your reason to run"

Ryan is running to get back to fitness after a major knee operation last year. Ryan, suffered a full Anterior Cruciate Ligament tear of his right knee, which needed operated on last December. Since then Ryan has struggled to get back to fitness. As he says "I have struggled to get my fitness back due to my surgery and this race will help me hugely in my rehabilitation. My long term plan is to be back playing football this year"

Please dig deep and help us raise as much money for Inspire to help them continue to help those in our community. Please forward this onto all your family and friends.
