The original Team, Skipper with his support crew of Penny and Ian at the Brisbane International Airport waiting for the flight to PNG. The team was led astray by Lee who told us that it was tradition to have a "Bloody Mary" cocktail prior to getting on the flight. Lucky for us the flight was not delayed!

The team did the inaugural Skippers Trek in March 2024, this is their story.

The original Team was made up of Skipper, his daughter Penny and his son Ian. In 2024 they completed the Kokoda Track together to tick it off Skipper's bucket list. The Team got together with Lee from Kokoda Courage and embraced the physical, mental and emotional challenge of completing the track together and were lucky enough to meet a great group of people on the way.

Learning about the sacrifices made by the Australian soldiers who fought in such a tough environment was truly inspiring and allowed them to reflect on their own experiences and the battles that lay ahead for them. Courage, Mateship, Sacrifice and Endurance. Four words that are inscribed on four pillars at the Isurava memorial on the track. These four words acted as a powerful reminder of the values that helped the soldiers endure and succeed during this campaign of WW2. Together with the memory of the ANZACs, in these four words, anyone can overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
