Story
The Doko race introduced in 1989, is regarded as a righteous passage that all the Gurkhas must go through to be selected for the British Army. it signals a pivotal moment during the selection procedure when individuals are tested to their limits. The young hopefuls are challenged with a gruelling course in the foothills of the Himalayas carrying a Doko, held in place with a head strap loaded with 25kg. All participants must complete the 5km climb.
On the 23rd October, 1RLC will run a Doko race as part of the Commanding Officers Shield competition. This will be in support of the GURKHA WELFARE TRUST and the ABF The Soldiers Charity
