Story
Nick, Ruth, Rosey and Simon are planning to walk an old pilgrim route between Canterbury and Rome, although none of us are particularly religious! It's about 2000km long and we will be carrying all our things, however no camping! We want to raise money for 2 charities involved in clinical nutrition: PINNT is a fantastic support group for patients who need artificial nutrition support and we also want to raise money to further research at Newcastle Hospitals & University into why some patients with Parenteral nutrition (having nutrition given through a vein) develop liver disease and what can be done to prevent it.
Walking the route is complicated as we can't do it all in one go because of post-Brexit restrictions on time spent in mainland Europe. We are planning to start on Sunday 14th April and will walk for 2 months and hopefully get to Lausanne. Then another 4 weeks walking in September over the Alps to northern Italy with the final stretch to Rome next spring.
