Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

We're raising money for the Tower at Holy Trinity Church, Barnstaple which urgently needs repairs to prevent it becoming dangerous.  We're also trying to improve the building and build an indoor climbing wall at the base of the tower where children and young people from local schools and community groups could learn to climb.

We're organising a sponsored team climbing effort to climb the height of Mount Everest within two days on the indoor wall at the Mill Adventure Centre in South Molton, Devon, from 3rd-4th July.  We've chosen to climb the height of Everest because a workman who climbs the scaffolding on our 38m high tower twice a day during the work will have climbed over 9,000metres- just over the total height from sea level to the peak of Mt Everest.  We'll be using the 6m high slab wall at the Mill Adventure Centre, which means we need to climb the wall 1474 times to reach our goal!

UPDATE: we've now completed the climb- 79 climbers over two days, we finished in 14 hours which was 4 hours inside our target time, so well done everyone.  It was a massive team effort- people who'd never climbed before were overcoming their fears whilst keen climbers were clocking up the ascents alongside them, but every metre climbed helps.
