Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In the bid to raise £1 million for Cobalt's Heart, Mind & Body CT Scanner Appeal, I have challenged myself to row 1 million metres in 100 days on a Concept2 indoor rowing machine - equivalent to John O'Groats to Lands End in a straight line! I will be rowing a minimum of 10,000 metres per day and inviting people to join me either virtually or in person along the way.
The new state-of-the-art CT scanner will be the only one of its type in the region with the ability to revolutionise the diagnosis of heart disease (Heart), stroke (Mind), cancer and other life-limiting conditions (Body) and will be sited at Cheltenham General Hospital.
Benefitting more than 12,000 people a year, the scanner will aid rapid and accurate diagnosis of a wide range of conditions. Quick and detailed imaging is key to sucessful outcomes for patients, leading to appropriate treatment of all conditions. It is particularly vital for stroke patients and those with acute chest pain or potential heart attack, for whom time taken in diagnosis is a critical factor.
I aim to do my bit to provide this technology locally and what better way than on an indoor rowing machine - one of the best forms of exercise for heart conditioning combined with an all over body workout. It is also good for the mind increasing oxygen flow to the brain and relieving stress!
Many thanks for your support,
Tabitha Scrivener (Finance Director of Cobalt)
