- We are Jim and Moira Sutherland, use the name SUZMAR. This was derived from first parts of our daughter's (Suzanne and Margaret) first names
- We are very keen walkers and have completed three of the different routes of the Camino Santiago. Also we have trekked in the Himalayas, we did the Annapurna Circuit and made it to Everest Base Camp. When we heard about the Via Francigena pilgrimage from Canterbury to Rome we were intrigued and set about planning to do it. It occurred to us that we should look at doing this not just for our own pleasure but on behalf of a worthy charity.
- The charity we decided to support was on behalf of Pancreatic Cancer. Last year our daughter's father-in-law died of this terrible disease and we discovers that it is one of the forms of cancer that is badly funded. So we wish to raise as much money as we can to help with the much needed research.
- Originally we thought the ealiest we could start the walk would be in the spring of 2015; but a change in other projects we had planned has now enabled us to start sooner., hopefully by the beginning of September.
