Hello !
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page for The National Kidney Research Fund.
Following my debut to marathon running in Edinburgh last June, I've caught the bug and am now participating in the London marathon, which is to be held on 18th April 2004.
Last year the goal was basically to complete the course, without walking (or collapsing!). Fortunately I succeeded in meeting this objective, and with a reaonsably respectable time of 4 hours. Now my baseline has been set and my goal is to improve on speed. I'm aiming for a time of 3.5 hours but my training will have to be a gzillion times more disciplined than last year if this is to be achieved !!
You'll see that my chosen charity is The National Kidney Research Fund, which is dedicated to improving the understanding of kidney disease, its causes, treatment and management.
Each year The National Kidney Research Fund awards grants to help support scientists and doctors to undertake leading edge research to learn more about the causes and mechanisms of kidney disease.
Important scientific breakthroughs are made all the time enabling medical researchers to constantly develop improvements to treatments. However, problems still remain and scientific advances can only be sustained and get better if the fund succeeds in raising its income and for that the research funds needs your help as they are funded almost entirely by voluntary donations (go to www.nkrf.org.uk for further info).
I'm hoping to raise at least £1000 to support this extremely worthwhile cause so please sponsor me ! This is the most efficient way for me to raise money and every single penny really helps.
Please give as much as you can to encourage my effort!
If you are a UK taxpayer your donation will be increased by almost a third at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
