Welcome to Team Turtle! (running alone now as Bunny out due to injury!)
*HELP ME WIN AN ADDITIONAL £500 DONATION FOR MACMILLAN FROM JUSTGIVING BY DONATING JUST £2 TO MY PAGE!*
The marathon is coming up this Sunday and JustGiving have offered to donate £500 to the charity of the person who manages to receive the greatest number of donations in the next 7 days, ie. it's not the amount they're interested in, but the number of individuals who donate.
I would love to win this money for Macmillan Cancer Support, but can only attempt it with your help! The minimum donation on this website is £2 which would be very gratefully received (though anything else you can afford is obviously welcome!)
A bit of background. I'm not a runner. I find it tiring and sweaty and it makes my legs hurt. I much prefer the more leisurely pursuits of cycling. This, I feel, makes me suitably qualified to represent turtles, as I feel that if turtles could talk, they would express similar feelings about running (athough, granted, not about cycling).
I will also be wearing an unnecessarily complicated turtle costume to add some authenticity to the whole affair.
I am running for Macmillan Cancer Support because of the fantastic work they do for people whose lives are affected by cancer. My father, John Hough, lost his life to cancer in 2001. During his illness, he was cared for by the absolutely wonderful Macmillan nurses, making Macmillan a charity very close to my heart. But Macmillan nurses are just one part of the bigger picture. Macmillan provides practical, medical, emotional and financial support to those suffering from cancer.
If you are here, it is probably for one of the following reasons:
- You love turtles and hate bunnies
- You have a soft spot for the underdog
- You feel sorry for me
Whatever reason you are here, thank you for your support and generosity, you can be assured that I will be working hard to earn every penny you donate!
Thank you so much!
