Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I got told that my new born baby would need surgery on his heart when he was just 1 day old.... We got transferred to the Birmingham Children's Hospital. Once there, we were told of the severity of the heart condition he had. His main artery from his heart was on the wrong side, it was also narrowed at the arch as it exits the heart and he had a large whole in between the main chambers. This would all need corrective surgery or he would die and he had a risk of dying whilst having the surgery. At 6 days old he had his open heart surgery which took many nail bitting hours. Then he spent many days on the Paediatric Intensive Care unit, where it was touch and go for the early days. He now has regular check ups with the cardiology team and I can't thank them enough that they saved my little boy who has just recently celebrated his 3rd Birthday. You would never know to look at him that he went through such amazing surgery. If it wasn't for the brilliant teams at the hospital he wouldn't be here now. I owe them his life, so for that I'm doing these fundraising walks with Amanda who is raising money for Endocrine tumours (NET at the QEH), as she has a very dear friend who has been diagnosed with this rare cancer
