Story
Who are & why Isabel Hospice ?
" Who " is easy. Isabel Hospice provides free care to the residents of eastern Hertfordshire who are living with life limiting illnesses. Last year they cared for approx 3,700 patients & their families. The care offered is physical, social, emotional & spiritual & is delivered by a team of highly trained staff & dedicated volunteers. The cost of providing these services for just this financial year is £4.2 million. The NHS provides £1.6 million but the other £2.6 million has to be generated through fund raising efforts. Of every £1 raised, 86p will go directly to patient care.
" Why " is even easier. Before Mum died in August 2011, I had always known about the Hospice. A number of our friends had reason to need their services & as Lady Captain of Knebworth Golf Club in 1996, I nominated the Hospice as my charity for the year. Then, when Mum became ill & I was caring for her at home, I really found out how invaluable their services & help are at a time when those concerned so desperately need it.
And so, here I am now; contemplating 7 months of training, trekking 70 miles in 11 days, temperatures as low as minus 15 degrees & getting up to an altitude of 5,545m (18,483 feet). Those of you who know me, know that I will love every minute. But I do need to raise some funds & this is why I am writing to you now. My target is £3,600 & if you can make a small donation towards this, I would be very grateful.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, with very best wishes & my sincere thanks for making a donation, however large or small, it is most appreciated, love Sue, x
