Story
Parkinson's UK is Stuart Hall Cycling's chosen charity to partner with.
- Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition caused by the lack of a chemical called dopamine.
- Parkinson’s disrupts the messages the brain sends to the body, impacting every aspect of daily life
- There are an estimated 127,000 people living with Parkinson’s in the UK, and an estimated one million people affected
- Although the cause of Parkinson’s is unknown, what is clear is the devastating impact this complex condition can have on the lives of those forced to live with it.
Established in 1969, Parkinson’s UK is the world’s largest patient-led Parkinson’s research and support charity. Between 2010 and the end of 2014, with the support of our 37,000 members, they will have invested more than £115 million (USD $185 million) in both groundbreaking research into the causes of and ultimately a cure for Parkinson’s as well as essential care and support for people living with Parkinson’s.
Parkinson’s UK has set itself ambitious goals, has a clear path to achieving them, and it’s all shaped by the people we’re here for - people affected by Parkinson’s, wherever they are.
