Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the Bath Half Marathon in aid of Sands a charity that have helped my wife and I after the loss of our son Mani.
They have looked after us tremendously well since it happened and I would like to help them take care of other families who find themselves in the same situation as we have.
Anyone who knows me, knows that I am no stranger to lycra so to do something special for Mani I am switching outfits. On the day you will find me donning, a unicorn horn, fairy wings and a sparkly tutu which is a far cry from my usual colour coordinated efforts.
If I raise £300 that would be fantastic but if I can raise more I will also carry round a wand and fairy dust to sprinkle some magic on my fellow runners as I canter my way around!
Wish me and my arthritic hip luck!
Steve
Update 17/03/19
So as is normal in life sometimes events transpire against you completing things you set to achieve, and today was just one of those days.
So unable to even start my run in my astounding unicorn – fairy – ballerina outfit means that there is only one thing for it to repay the generosity of so many, I will have to up the ante.
I will therefore now be running the Long Course Weekend Marathon in Beesel, Holland on Sunday 19th May (8 weeks time)
To make this even more challenging I will also be taking part in the other events over the weekend of a 2.4mile swim on the Friday and a 112mile bike ride on the Saturday.
Each event will have a similar costume theme, with a pink swim suit being donned on the Friday for the swim and my fairy wings will accompany me for 112 miles on the bike.
Although I’m hugely disappointed not to run in the beautiful city of Bath today, I am confident that I will fly the flag for SANDS and your amazing sponsorship in this next challenge.
Danke Je (that’s thanks in Dutch 🙂)
