Story
Hi Everybody!
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page and many thanks for your support!
Well, I did it! I crossed the line in 6 hours, 19 minutes and 40 seconds. What a race, what a fantastic experience, incredible. Great fun, brilliant atmosphere and very well organised. Go to http://yearofironman.blogspot.com to read my report and see some photos of me in action.
A massive thank you to all that have sponsored me! When I was finding it hard going on the run it was the thought that so many people have supported me, that kept me going. If you would still like to sponsor me you can of course still donate on the site!
I am continuing to compete in triathlons and my next one is Bournemouth International Triathlon on the 8th July. Follow my Blog site for regular updates and more info!
After years of being out of shape and physically unfit I decided to do soemthing about it and in September of 2006 I completed my first triathlon, the Wimborne Fast Twitch Tri, a 400m swim, 15 mile bike ride and 4 mile run, in a time of 1 hour and 29 minutes, finishing just outside the top 100 out of 400 competitors. I was hookled!! It's now time for me to up the ante and so Half Ironman UK for me in 2007, swimming 1.2 miles, cycling 56 miles and running 13.1 miles. As part of my training I will be racing in other triathlons prior to the event. I plan to compete in future triathlons and complete a full Ironman distance triathlon in 2008!
I really want to make a difference, not just for myself but for those close to me. And if at the same time I can help those who have not had the opportunities in life to do the things that I have then I hope I can raise some money for this splendid organisation, Rotary International. My father has been a Rotarian of Blackpool South Rotary Club for 30 years and I have seen the immense amount of hard work that he has put into fund raising and organising events. I take my hat off to all that give their time and energy to this organisation and provide the likes of me with the opportunities of competing in events like Half Ironman UK.
I hope by donating to this fundraising site we can all feel that we are giving something back to our community.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Rotary-IronmanUK Triathlon Charities will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support. If you want to follow my progress and build up to the main event of the year then go to My blog site for regular news and updates to which you will be able to leave messages.
