Story
To my generous and kind sponsors
I can confirm that I finished the London Marathon on Sunday 26 April on what turned out to be one of the hottest days so far this year - 'never again' was the enduring thought on my mind for the last 6 miles (and remain so as I write).
What kept me going for those last miles was the commitment I had made to you in return for you support for HEART UK, a charity which means a great deal to me - a very powerful motivator when I had 'just had enough'.
I am most grateful to all of my sponsors, but would like to single out Jane Nellis at Kinloss in particular for her unwavering support throughout the winter - she has proved to be a very effective promoter on my behalf, raising a significant amount of money through persuasion and bribery for which I am most grateful. Also to family in Prescott and Derbyshire for their inspiring support and ingenuity in finding sources of sponsorship.
The picture on the left thankfully doesn’t show me crawling up the Mall - I was still running albiet slowly - 4 hrs and 42 minutes too long!!
Thank you
Stephen Wilcock
